Red Dead Redemption 2 On PC, How is it?
I remember really wanting this on PC and it was not available at the time on PC. I wanted to play it bad enough, so I bought it on PS4. The story, graphics, and quests are top notch and some of the best I have experienced in any game. Of course, this post will not be on those things, but instead I will share my thoughts on the PC version in terms of graphics and mods on the way.
Waiting hours for the game to download in the Epic Game Launcher, I was excited to open the game. I had to work though, so once I got home I had my chance. I went to start the story and immediately I could see the difference. Treading through the snow in the beginning scenes and seeing the quality of the physics in the world looks better then I imagined. I was re immersed on graphics alone. There will be some screenshots attached to this post so be sure to take a look. At the same time I experience graphic glitches. I am so used to NVIDIA being top notch and games always have had support with NVIDIA first. I have had nothing, but issues running on my 1080. Weird stuttering and screen tearing with V Sync on or off. I hope these issues will be resolved as time goes on. I waited so long for a PC version, I will take what I can get for now.
One of the other issues that bothered me was the game not being available on Steam. I prefer Steam over the many clients out there. The way achievements work and card trading are two things I like most about Steam. If you are a big PC gamer like me though, it is not the end of the world.
Mods are always the greatest thing when it comes to PC games. There are two top mod pages out there at the moment for the game. First to be up and designed was Nexus Mod's section for RDR2. The link to that is https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2. There is also a site out there just dedicated to Red Dead Redemption 2 and it is https://www.rdr2mods.com/. You're going to need both https://www.rdr2mods.com/file/41-script-hook-rdr2-plus-sdk/ and https://www.rdr2mods.com/file/47-rdr2-asi-loader/. Be sure to put your ASI files in your script folder. There are a couple of good ones out that caught my eye and that is one of the Trainers at https://www.rdr2mods.com/file/44-zolika1351s-red-dead-redemption-2-trainer/ and a Hot Air Balloon Mod at https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/76. If you are going to do online be sure to move these out of your game folder so you do not get banned.
I got a good deal at https://www.humblebundle.com at about 25% off for the special edition which was really nice. So if your looking for a good price this time of year, check it out. It is one of my favorite sites because with most games, part of the money goes to charities. See more at the following link: https://www.humblebundle.com/charities.
So despite the graphic issues I would recommend buying the PC version. If I were to rate it, I would give it a 8 out of 10. The graphics are more immersive, no matter the issues, and who does not love mods. There are also good deals this time of year to get big discounts. I have not really dabbled in Online Mode yet, but I will write a review on that soon enough.
